Having trouble getting your gym look together? You’ve got to get a few trusty basics that flatter your physique if you’re putting in the time at the gym. Ditch your baggy tees circa 1999 and your ancient running pants and find something just right.
A few tips for you to choose the right gym clothes style:
Shirts
Ditch the overstated logo tees, please. Try out a couple in various fabrics, because while cotton absorbs sweat quite well, microfibers are worth checking out. My personal favorite has to be Adidas Climalite microfiber, which absorbs sweat very well and keeps its shape and color for a long, long time. Check out Climalite tees at Adidas.com.
Do you want to wear tighter fitting shirts? Just use your judgment. They may not be for everyone, so think of what you want to see on someone in the gym, and use that as your guide. There’s nothing wrong with a black tank! Stick to other solid colors like red, blue, tan, and gray, and find them online at places like Freshpair.com.
Pants
Choose shorts or pants, but make sure they’ll match with your selection of tees. Don’t wear anything too baggy—wear something that moves with your body without a lot of extra fabric. For those of us who only want a few pairs of shorts, stick to dark colors like navy and black.
Sneakers
Find sneakers that are comfortable and specialized pair for your favorite sport. These may be best purchased in a store instead of online, for fitting reasons. You can also meet with a sport shoe specialist and then order them online afterwards.
Even if you don’t go to the gym yet, let this inspire you to get the right clothes and get there.
